What is NJROTC?
The Fayette-Ware Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) program aims to instill the values of citizenship, service to the United States, personal responsibility, and a sense of accomplishment in the students who participate in the program. The NJROTC program, established in 1964, uses a curriculum taught by retired Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and other enlisted military officers and personnel. Fayette-Ware has offered the program since 2021. The curriculum includes naval operations and meteorology and emphasizes leadership, citizenship, and community service. NJROTC students spend time throughout the year participating in community service, drill competitions, and other activities. According to the Naval Service Training Command, approximately 60 percent of NJROTC cadet graduating seniors continue to higher education while many others join the military after graduation.
The Fayette-Ware Comprehensive High School Wildcat Company has grown beyond all expectations. Led by MSgt, USAF (Ret) Barron Hall, Wildcat Company is now in its third year. NJROTC students have organized a Patriot Day Ceremony for the past two years and participated in Army JROTC Drill Meet competitions, marched in multiple parades throughout the region, participated in the Haywood High School Air Force JROTC Awards and Retirement Ceremony where they performed the POW/MIA Ceremony, the Veterans Day Program at the West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery where they were honored to be part of the Presentation and Posting of Colors, and many community service events including trash pickup around the area and raising money for St. Jude. We are very proud of our NJROTC program. We commend the students who are active in the program on all of their hard work and all of the accomplishments that they have earned.
